Privacy policy

STR8FW VZW respects your privacy. We collect only what we need to keep you informed about our work, and we never sell or share your data with third parties for commercial purposes.

Who are we?

STRAIGHT FORWARD VZW, company number BE 0556.991.321, registered at Smidsestraat 121, 9000 Ghent, Belgium. You can reach us at info@str8fw.be. For questions about personal data, our chair, Dirk Mattheeuws, is the contact person.

What data do we collect?

Only the data you provide yourself via the signup form on this website:

  • Name — so we can address you personally
  • Email address — to send you the newsletter, invitations or confirmations
  • Mobile number (optional) — only if you wish to be added to our WhatsApp community

In addition, our hosting provider and form service process technical data (IP address, browser, date/time) as any web server does. We do not use these for profiling.

Why do we collect them?

The legal basis is your consent, given by deliberately ticking a checkbox in the form. Specifically:

  • Newsletter — to send you updates about our activities (BBQ, cooking club, solidarity actions)
  • Membership — to register you officially as a member of the organisation
  • WhatsApp community — to add you to our WhatsApp group

How long do we keep them?

We keep your data as long as you are a member or interested party. If you unsubscribe, we delete it within 30 days. For statutory retention obligations (accounting, tax), some data may be retained longer as required by Belgian law.

Who do we share them with?

We only share your data with the providers strictly necessary for the website and communication to work:

  • FormSubmit (formsubmit.co) — processes the form and forwards data to info@str8fw.be. No storage at FormSubmit.
  • Combell — our hosting provider in Belgium.
  • If you sign up for the newsletter and we later send it via a third-party service (such as Mailchimp or Brevo), we will inform you at that time.

Cookies and tracking

This website uses no tracking cookies and loads no analytics scripts (no Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel, no advertising cookies). No cookie consent banner is therefore required.

External services on this page

When loading this site, a few external resources are requested:

  • Google Fonts — for the Jost typeface. Your IP address becomes visible to Google. You can avoid this with a browser extension such as uBlock Origin.
  • Google Favicon service — for the small icons in the "Beneficiaries" section. Same: your IP is visible to Google when they load.
  • Google Maps — only when you click the location link; Maps then opens in a new tab.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • Request access to your data
  • Have errors corrected
  • Have your data deleted ("right to be forgotten")
  • Withdraw your consent at any time
  • File a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority

For all of these requests, a simple email to info@str8fw.be is enough. We respond within 30 days.

This privacy policy may change as our work evolves. Important changes are communicated via the newsletter and on this page. The latest version is always here.
